The Best of Travel in America

If England has a vast wealth of history, America’s wealth is in the vastness of its spaces, and the sheer variety of lovely places to see.  Every region seems to have its own personality, and therefore its own type of experiences.  When we couldn’t afford to travel overseas, we travelled domestically.

The highway system in the US allows us to cover great distances in a single day. We recently did a long  road trip with friends, and broke the long drives up with interesting stops along the way. We covered 4.600 miles in 12 days, with a handful of day stops along the way and never felt beat up by the travel.

So this will be about sharing some of the lesser known but wonderful things to see, as well as anything we’ve learned about how to go about seeing them.  Of course, we’re going to have to talk about places like Yosemite (which should be on everyone’s bucket list).  But you will also hear about the nearby Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Pacific Grove and Highway One North of San Francisco, Canon Beach and Oneota Gorge in Oregon, etc.
