Travel (England / UK)
We had the privilege of living in England for 6 months while I was working a historical research project on the western edge of London. It isn’t possible to summarize the magic of this wonderful country except that to say that by the time we had a chance to visit Paris–beautiful, extraordinary Paris–it had lost its ability to blow me away.
The utter wealth of England’s historical heritage is astonishing to someone who comes from a place where the oldest new world structure is from the 1850’s. In England, you can find one of those on every block. Every few blocks, there is one from the 1600’s, or a local church that is nearly 1,000 years old. And we have met many truly wonderful people there, too. A number of which we are grateful to count among our cherished friends.
We will leave it to others to tell you about the London Eye. We will tell you about the magic of living without a car, climbing an ancient bell tower at sundown, stirring Remembrance Day ceremonies and laying flowers on Winston Churchill’s grave in a small, remote churchyard.
